Volunteers for Mozart Requiem Sing-a-long:Set-up for the sing-a-long is pretty simple (no risers). We need volunteers to help set-up & strike the orchestra, and help with refreshments at the Mozart Requiem sing-a-long. Please sign-up in the back, and reassure the board that we won't be alone. Many hands make light work! If you are afraid of committment, but are willing to work, please come early, & then let's all sing together!
Marcelle reminds you to constantly reiterate/renew all of your vowels (especially over long, sustained notes). Maintain constant 'sparkle'.
Meet the composers:
Thomas Morley (c. 1557-1602) Morley was the most important composer involved in developing the English Elizabethan madrigal from its Italian counterpart. In the 1580s and 1590s he published some English translations of Italian madrigals with newly composed English works of his own, which imitated the Italian style. His most famous works are the 'fa la la' madrigals: pieces with a nonsense refrain, such as the wonderful 'Now is the Month of Maying'. Morely is also known for his tratise A Plaine and Easie Introduction to Practicall Musicke (1597) (see cover). In addition to advice for the amateur, the book includes assessments of contemporary music and musicians that reveal opinions of the time and have remained influential to this day. *
